Volunteer release
I understand that much of my volunteer activity with Defense of Democracy will be over social media, and I acknowledge that it is my own responsibility to ensure my own safety and to protect my identity.
In return for participation in Defense of Democracy volunteer activities and all related activities, including any activities incidental to such participation ("Volunteer Activities"), the undersigned Volunteer (hereafter referred to using "I", "me", or "my") forever releases and agrees not to sue Defense of Democracy or its officers, directors, employees, sub-contractors, sponsors, agents and affiliates ("the Foundation") from all present and future claims, known, unknown, or suspected, that may be made by me, my family, estate, heirs, or assigns for property damage, personal injury, damage to my reputation or image, or wrongful death arising as a result of my participation in the Volunteer Activities wherever, whenever, or however the same may occur.
I understand and agree that Defense of Democracy is not responsible for any bodily or reputational injury or property damage arising out of the Volunteer Activities, even if caused by their ordinary negligence or otherwise.
I understand that participation in Volunteer Activities involves certain risks, including, but not limited to, serious injury and death. I am voluntarily participating in the Volunteer Activities with knowledge of the danger involved and I agree to accept all risks of participation.
I also agree to indemnify and hold harmless Defense of Democracy for all claims arising out of my participation in the Volunteer Activities.
I understand that this document is intended to be as broad and inclusive as permitted by the laws of the state in which the Volunteer Activities take place and agree that if any portion of this Agreement is invalid, the remainder will continue in full legal force and effect.
I also acknowledge that Defense of Democracy has not arranged and does not carry any insurance of any kind for my benefit or that of Volunteer (if Volunteer is under 18), my parents, guardians, trustees, heirs, executors, administrators, successors, and assigns.
I represent that, to my knowledge, I am in good health and suffer no physical impairment that would or should prevent my participation in Volunteer Activities.
I also understand that this document is a contract that grants certain rights to and eliminates the liability of Defense of Democracy.
Photo release
I grant Defense of Democracy my permission to use my likeness in a photograph or video in its publications, including but not limited to all of Defense of Democracy's printed and digital publications. I understand and agree that any photograph or video using my likeness will become property of Defense of Democracy and will not be returned.
I acknowledge that since my participation with Defense of Democracy is voluntary, neither they nor I will receive any financial compensation for use of my photograph or likeness by Defense of Democracy.
I hereby irrevocably authorize Defense of Democracy to edit, alter, copy, exhibit, publish or distribute those photos or videos for purposes of publicizing Defense of Democracy's programs for any other related, lawful purpose. In addition, I waive the right to inspect or approve the finished product, including written or electronic copy, wherein [child's] likeness appears. Additionally, I waive any right to royalties or other compensation arising out of or related to, the use of the photograph or video.
I hereby hold harmless and release and forever discharge Defense of Democracy from all claims, demands, and causes of action which I, my heirs, representatives, executors, administrators, or any other persons acting on my behalf or on behalf of my estate have or may have by reason of this authorization.
I am at least 18 years of age, am the parent or lawful guardian of [child], and am competent to enter into this contract . I have read this release before agreeing below and I fully understand the contents, meaning, and impact of this release.
